Sales

A product you’ll be proud to sell

Buying a home is so much more than a transaction. It’s a major life event. That’s why it’s vital we have the right people in our Sales team — people who can really connect with our customers and build relationships of trust.

Of course, it helps when you’ve got an award-winning product to sell. But that doesn’t mean we take the process lightly. Our Sales teams really engage with our customers to understand their needs — whether they’re guiding them around a show house or helping them choose the fixtures and fittings that will help to make their future house a dream home.

The majority of our homes are sold before they’re built, so it’s down to us to update our customer on how the build is progressing, and keep them informed on legal matters from reservation to completion. Put simply, we take our customers on a journey — and success is all about making sure it’s as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Do well here, and you can look forward to uncapped commission and a variety of incentives. You won’t need previous experience of property sales to enjoy them either. As long as you’ve got a sales or customer service background, brilliant people skills and the right attitude, our training will take care of the rest. As well as a thorough induction programme, you’ll enjoy extensive training and development opportunities throughout your career. You’ll also enjoy all the opportunities that come from being part of a company with big growth plans.

  • I particularly enjoy completion day. I love handing over the keys to my clients as we have been on a journey.
    Gavin – Sales Consultant

    Our People

GavinGavin knew he wanted a career in housebuilding after university. He applied to Redrow because he was impressed by the quality of our developments. Since 2013, he’s been a Sales Consultant in our Lancashire division.

“I’ve been here little more than a year, but I’ve been given real responsibility. For example, they’ve made me the sales system champion for our region. It’s my job to ensure that we’re using the My Redrow system effectively and that my colleagues are getting the most out of it. It’s nice to be trusted this way – to have responsibilities over and above your core role.

“The job itself is very varied. There’s more to it than many people think. A typical day will see me updating clients on the progress of their homes, helping them choose the finishing touches or interacting with our build teams to ensure deadlines are being met.

“I particularly enjoy completion day. I love handing over the keys to my clients as we have been on a journey, sometimes for as long as a year. The pleasure of seeing how happy they are when they finally get those keys is hard to beat.”

  • Redrow has literally changed my life. I now have a career, not just a job.
    Jon – Sales Consultant

    Our People

Jon KaneJon is a Sales Consultant in our Lancashire team. He has been at Redrow since October 2012.

“I heard about the role through a friend in the industry. They’d come into contact with Redrow before and really sung its praises. They told me about the quality of the product and the way the company values and supports its staff. So I attended a Redrow recruitment day, applied, got the role, and haven’t looked back since. Redrow is genuinely the best company I’ve worked for: they’re second to none as employers.

I came from a very different professional background and didn’t have any experience with new homes when I started. But everyone was extremely supportive, including the Sales Director and Sales Manager who gave me a great opportunity, and Redrow gave me all the training I needed: from systems and build stage training, to sales and time management. It helped me tremendously and allowed me to grow into a confident Sales Consultant.

The most enjoyable part of my role is definitely completion day. All the hard work you put in pays off when you hand over the keys and see the overjoyed smiles of your clients. Our new welcome parties are brilliant too: you see your clients making new friends, talking about their journeys and really settling into their new homes.

Redrow has literally changed my life.  I now have a career, not just a job.”

  • I’ve always wanted to work in the construction industry, but it was buying my first home last year that really inspired me to do it.
    Melissa – Sales Consultant

    Our People

Melissa MurrayMelissa is a Sales Consultant in our North West division.

“I’ve always wanted to work in the construction industry, but it was buying my first home last year that really inspired me to do it. I joined Redrow and I was sent on a two-week training course at Tamworth. I was also paired with my colleague Jan, who gives me ongoing on-the-job training.

Now I’m working at the Regents Grange development in Chester. I work closely with my site manager and with the head office, chasing contracts and enquiries, checking our plots and managing the presentation of the sales office. I’m faced with challenges each day, but that’s actually one of the things I love about it: they keep me engaged with the job. The other thing I really enjoy about it is sharing the journey with each customer, from the point of enquiry to the completion date.

If I had to name my proudest achievement at Redrow so far, I’d probably say my first mystery shop result. My score was one of the highest in the division. I’m also proud of the confidence I’ve gained since I started: to run a site on my own and to chase leads and convert them into sales.”

  • I’d spent much of my career in a customer-facing role. Redrow has a strong reputation as a builder. I'm so glad I joined.
    Amy – Sales Consultant

    Our People

Amy is a Sales Consultant in our NW division.

“Before I joined Redrow, I worked for an airline for 14 years. I wanted a new challenge, but also stability. I’d spent much of my career in a customer-facing role as a Cabin Manager, so I was looking for something in sales and service. Redrow has a strong reputation as a builder, and when I heard they had a Sales Consultant role going, it sounded like just what I was looking for.

It was a hard decision leaving my old job, but I’m glad I made it: Redrow is an excellent company to work for. Everyone is very approachable at all levels and I’ve been made to feel welcome and part of the team. Right from the start, they’ve given me all the support and guidance I need to succeed.

One of the best things about my role is interacting with the customers and helping them along with their journey – whether it’s buying their first house, downsizing to a more manageable one, or moving into a new family home. You see how happy they are when they move in and it’s an amazing feeling to know you’ve played a part in that.”

  • I would encourage anyone who’s thinking about Redrow to apply. They really don’t feel like any other company I’ve worked for. They’re committed to continually improving their products and services and it makes for an exciting environment.
    Stacy – Sales Consultant

    Our People

StacyStacy is part of our South Midlands division. She’s been at Redrow since 2013 and was recently named Sales Consultant of the Year for her region.

“Having worked for other housebuilders, I was always aware of Redrow. They were seen as a high-quality builder and I aspired to work for them. So much so, that when I applied for this role I turned down a job offer from a rival firm. That’s how much I had my heart set on Redrow.

“Since joining the firm, I haven’t been disappointed. There’s so much variety to my role. A typical day will start with me ensuring my sales area is presented well – because after all that’s my best sales tool. Then it will be on with meeting future customers, managing existing purchasers and liaising with third parties. I might find myself visiting sites to inspect plots, conducting weekly sales meetings or even scoping out the competition to see what’s on sale in the surrounding area.
“I would encourage anyone who’s thinking about Redrow to apply. They really don’t feel like any other company I’ve worked for. They’re committed to continually improving their products and services and it makes for an exciting environment. We’re always bringing new ideas to market. You never what’s just around the corner.”

  • I was also attracted to the company because it had a great reputation for quality – as anyone in the industry will tell you.
    Lesley – Area Sales Manager

    Our People

lesley-myersLesley is highly experienced at selling homes. She was a Senior Sales Consultant for one of our competitors before joining Redrow in 2002. She’s currently the Area Sales Manager for our Lancashire division.

“I had a sales career with another well-known housebuilder before coming here. I felt I had reached the limits of my possibilities there, and was looking for a place where I could really develop my career. Redrow offered those kinds of opportunities. I was also attracted to the company because it had a great reputation for quality – as anyone in the industry will tell you.

“I’ve been here 12 years now, so I clearly made the right decision. I enjoy everything about what I do, from staff training to the day-to-day chasing that’s an integral part of the role. Whether I’m motivating the sales team, checking the presentation of a property or troubleshooting a client issue, there are lots of challenges to keep me occupied.

“Despite my experience, I still get lots of training – which is something I really appreciate. I’m still as ambitious as ever too. One day, I’d love to become Head of Sales.”

  • I am genuinely proud of the product that Redrow build and the ethos of the company.
    Sarah – Sales Consultant

    Our People

Sarah smithSarah was attracted to the position because she had worked in the new homes industry before and felt Redrow had a lot to offer as an employer which invests in its employees. She’s been a Sales Consultant in our West Country division since 2011.

“What I love about the role is the diversity and every day is different. Obviously my main role is to generate sales in line with company targets and to deliver excellent customer service but there are many other facets to the role of Sales Consultant.

“I am genuinely proud of the product that Redrow build and the ethos of the company”. One of Redrow’s award winners, Sarah says “I am really lucky and proud to be working alongside an award winning site manager.”

I would recommend working for Redrow as there are a lot of opportunities within the company in various roles and there is a dedicated Training Centre so there is the opportunity to develop and learn new skills”

  • My best achievement here so far was definitely being asked to be Sales Champion for Lancashire. It basically gave me more responsibility and the opportunity to advance my career with Redrow.
    Samantha – Sales Consultant

    Our People

Samantha Potter SalesSamantha is a Sales Consultant with our Lancashire division.

“I joined in 2013. Redrow appealed to me because of their reputation for being the best housebuilding company – for creating the best products for their clients. A friend of mine was already working for them, and they told me there was a position opening up, so I went for it.

It’s quite difficult to describe a typical day for me, because no two days are the same for a Sales Consultant. Each is different, which is why we all love our jobs. Generally though, we’ll get into the office for about 9:45 to make sure all our homes are open. Then we normally set ourselves up at our desks to greet clients who want information about the development. From there each day brings new tasks, from answering emails and chasing contracts, to following up leads for new reservations.

My best achievement here so far was definitely being asked to be Sales Champion for Lancashire. It basically gave me more responsibility and the opportunity to advance my career with Redrow. Being asked to take on the role showed how far I had come and really made me feel like a valued member of the team.”

  • I love the product: it’s something I have confidence in and am genuinely proud to sell. I enjoy meeting people and then exceeding their expectations with our product.
    Yvonne – Sales Consultant

    Our People

Yvonne is a Sales Consultant with our Lancashire division.

“I joined Redrow because I heard about a position here through my family. I knew about Redrow’s reputation too, and I wanted to represent the best housebuilder and sell this product.

As a Sales Consultant, my role is quite varied. On any given day, it will involve everything from responding to emails and phone calls, to greeting clients face-to-face and meeting our Site Managers. One of the things I enjoy most is actually just working as part of a team. Everyone is so supportive, right up to management level.

Above all though, I love the product: it’s something I have confidence in and am genuinely proud to sell. I enjoy meeting people and then exceeding their expectations with our product. One of my proudest achievements was selling one of our houses to a woman over 80 years old and not just meeting her expectations but actually exceeding them.”

  • I enjoy speaking with customers, and helping to resolve any issues they may have.
    Emily – Sales Administrator

    Our People

Emily SalisburyEmily joined Redrow in September 2014 as a Sales Office Assistant and was later promoted to Sales Administrator.

“I heard about the job opportunity at Redrow through word of mouth, and was attracted by the reputation Redrow have as an employer. They have a good reputation as a housebuilder, and are a company I could see myself having a long term career with. It was clear that I would have opportunities to progress within the company as I gained more knowledge and experience.

I started as a Sales Office Assistant and was then promoted to Sales Administrator. A typical day involves supporting our sales consultants, the rest of the office team, and managing administration tasks. I also deal with enquires for new sites before they open, and keep the database for each site updated with various information – for example, when it is due to open. I have also started working with the sales consultants on site one day a week to learn more about their role.

I enjoy speaking with customers, and helping to resolve any issues they may have. I also like seeing the sites across the Midlands progress from a building site to a completed development of people and families living in our houses.”

  • I'd heard about their reputation for quality products - I’d definitely recommend Redrow to other people too.
    Kirsty-Leigh – Sales Consultant

    Our People

Kirsty-Leigh is a Sales Consultant in our North West division.

“I joined Redrow in 2015. I knew about their reputation for quality products and I’d heard there were a lot of opportunities for career development there. I’d definitely recommend Redrow to other people too: it’s rewarding, hands-on work and you’re always well looked after.

My days are very varied: they involve everything from admin and build checks, to demonstrating and helping out with colour choices. But I think the most enjoyable aspect of the job for me is actually dealing with customers on-site, because you can get involved with the whole process then.

My best day at Redrow so far was the first day I spent alone on-site, because I felt trusted to do the job properly by myself. That’s my main hope for the future actually – that I’ll get my own site to manage, so I can prove what I can do. Given enough time, I know I can achieve great things.”

  • One of the things I enjoy most about my role is talking to and getting to know our customers. I enjoy taking them on a journey, from enquiring about a plot to handing over the keys at the end.
    Waseem – Sales Consultant

    Our People

WaseemWaseem is a Sales Consultant with our Lancashire division.

“I joined Redrow not long after I bought my own new build house. I’d spoken to a lot of Sales Consultants during the buying process and observed how they assisted me. I quickly realised I’d love to work as a Sales Consultant for a new build developer. I’d heard about Redrow’s fantastic product and how they prided themselves on the quality of their customer service, so they stood out from other developers for me.

One of the things I enjoy most about my role is talking to and getting to know our customers. I enjoy taking them on a journey, from enquiring about a plot to handing over the keys at the end. It’s especially exciting when they choose all their options, because it’s a way of putting their own particular stamp on their new house. It’s also a time when I get to feel like an interior designer for the day!

Every day here has been amazing in one way or another. But if I had to choose my best, I’d say the day when I got my first sale and helped my customer to buy their dream home. Another achievement I’m really proud of was being allowed to work on a site alone not long after I joined. I was especially proud of all the positive feedback I got.”
