REDROW Homes is looking to recruit young people with a passion for design or an enthusiasm for engineering.
The UK housebuilder has created brand new posts for technical trainees at each of its housing divisions across England and Wales.
At a time when youth unemployment remains high – still above 950,000 at the last count – these are real jobs with proper training. Redrow will begin recruiting in July and believes the posts would be most suited to school or college leavers
Richard Beadsmoore, group training & development manager, says: “Successful candidates will need at least five GCSEs, including maths and English and may even have studied for A levels but decided they don’t want to go on to university.
“The positions will focus on the design and engineering aspects of our business and trainees will get the opportunity to follow a structured learning programme while working alongside our team of experienced professionals.”
The initial technical trainee positions will be available at Redrow offices in Wakefield, Chorley, Ewloe, Tamworth, Northampton, Bristol, Cardiff, and Basildon.
Roles will focus on aspects of designing Redrow developments, including planning and drawing site layouts, as well as engineering design for roads, sewers and utilities to service the new homes on those developments.
In addition to receiving structured on the job training, successful applicants will be able to continue their studies on a day release basis, ideally studying for a BTEC National or Higher National Diploma qualification.
